Be a part of creating woodlands in Leeds planting 220,000 trees every year to combat climate
change, create new habitats and sustainable woodlands for future generations.
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an Asset and Information Officer to work within the
Parks Technical Team team based at Farnley Hall. This position is to support the service for
the delivery of a woodland creation plan and adapting parks and green spaces in Leeds to meet
the challenges of the climate emergency.
You will be an advocate for our initiatives to change how we manage our parks and countryside
in response to the climate emergency and get involved in tree planting plans and consultation.
You will promote and advocate the benefits of woodland planting, creating new habitats and
combatting the climate and biodiversity crisis through a range of mediums.
The role will include liaising with communities, elected representatives, and other
stakeholders in the delivery of the woodland creation initiative, increasing opportunities for
biodiversity, changes to maintenance regimes and providing opportunities to work alongside
volunteers, third sector, corporate groups and our own colleagues to make a real difference
across the city.
You will have the ability to communicate effectively through a wide range of methods; to
establish strong working relationships; report to community and service meetings; give
presentations when required and be able to input onto the woodland creation delivery plan with
accuracy and precision.
You should have knowledge of database reporting tools and spatial analysis techniques, together
with previous experience in Geographical Information Systems. Good ICT skills are essential to
the role as is the ability to interpret maps and technical plans. The ability to independently
access remote sites is also an essential component.
