ASPIRENorth delivers the Schools for Higher Education Programme (SHEP) as a part of the Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council (SFC) funded National Schools Programme. It works with young people in secondary schools to (a) raise awareness of post-school education opportunities and (b) raise aspirations to participate in these opportunities. The main focus of activity is on pupils in those secondary schools with the lowest rate of progression into higher education. Additionally, the programme works where appropriate with teachers, parents, carers and relevant community groups. The programme covers the whole of the North of Scotland. A vacancy has arisen for a full-time Development Worker to support the work of the ASPIRENorth Grampian office as a part of the Schools for Higher Education Programme.Are you passionate about the benefits of higher education?Do you believe everyone should have a fair chance to access higher education?Do you have up to date knowledge of college and university life and the student experience?Do you have excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with people from a wide range of backgrounds?As Development Worker you will help to develop and deliver a range of exciting activities designed to inspire young people and support their transition to higher education. Working as part of a small team, you will engage with pupils both in workshop groups and individually to provide a tailored programme that will bridge the gap between school and higher education.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you should have experience of working with young people and developing and delivering resources and materials, ideally within a widening access context.
