We are looking for you, if you are:

  • a manager with at least 5 to 10 years of working experience in risk management and banking business related to modelling and/or validation of models and the associated regulations.

  • fluent in English with excellent communication skills,
  • familiarity with key IRRBB (Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book) regulations and metrics, including NII (Net Interest Income) and EVE (Economic Value of Equity),
  • a quantitative background, ideally holding an MSc or PhD degree in fields such as (Financial) Econometrics, Financial Mathematics, Quantitative Financial Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics,
  • willing to work in an international and inclusive team that emphasizes creativity and modernity,
  • organized, persuasive, and adept at building relationships—a role model in these aspects,
  • capable of making informed decisions regarding critical processes.

You’ll get extra points for:

  • having a keen eye on innovation,
  • experience with QRM or similar system,
  • strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities,
  • experience in building, updating and maintaining market risk models (interest rate curves, stochastic interest rate models),
  • familiarity with agile methodologies.

Your responsibilities:

  • directly managing team leads, overseeing a total of 30-70 individuals organized across several teams,
  • defining the vision and goals for the area, aligning them with the Tribe Strategy,
  • driving and overseeing main area activities, including model monitoring and development,
  • collaborating with senior stakeholders both locally and internationally,
  • actively seeking new business opportunities to foster growth within the Area and Tribe,
  • continuously optimizing the layout of the Area, considering strategic priorities, customer needs, and target architecture,
  • safeguarding cross-border team integration activities,
  • promoting a feedback culture, ensuring continuous improvements, and enhancing team happiness in alignment with the tribe and domain lead’s vision,
  • strategically organizing recruitment and onboarding of new talent,
  • ensuring compliance with non-financial risk and sourcing policies,
  • coordinating financial/budget input updates and maintaining relationships with local and global financial controllers,
  • managing local contracts and agreements in collaboration with Global and Local Procurement.

Information about the Area:The Model Development department comprises an international team of 300 highly qualified professionals. Our expertise lies in developing and managing credit risk, ALM (Asset and Liability Management), and operational risk models. The Risk Hub Model Development team collaborates on model development activities across ING, working closely with teams in Amsterdam and other locations on international projects. The market risk models (including IRRBB) that we develop are integral to ING’s success. These models are utilized by all local Risk Management units within the organization.The Market and Operational Risk area focuses on managing non-credit risk models, with a primary emphasis on ALM modelling and risk measurement.The role naming convention in the global ING job architecture will be “Lead Financial Risk III”.
