What do we need:

 
As a Maintenance Apprentice on the team, you will be enrolled in a Maintenance program to learn the tools and skills necessary to become a highly proficient Skilled Trades Maintenance HVAC Mechanic. Throughout this program, you will assist Facilities and Manufacturing Maintenance personnel with equipment troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and installation.

Our Maintenance Department is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the facilities and manufacturing equipment in our plants at our Ada complex for our valued customers. The maintenance department is comprised of over 60 highly qualified Skilled Trades employees, and the equipment they maintain is integral to the successful operations of the facilities and manufacturing organizations. We have a wide range of manufacturing – from nutritional and cosmetics products, to personal care items, to blow molding our own bottles to package our products

What’s special about this role:

 
The program includes completing 8,000 hours of on-the-job training plus additional Related Technical Instruction (RTI) through a partnership with Grand Rapids Community College. Upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship program, you will then be assigned to either 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift depending upon department needs. In this role, a minimum of half of your time will be on 1st shift (7:00 am to 3:00 pm) with the need for flexibility in your schedule in order to attend classes. You will also attend and complete the required academic and on-the-job hours as outlined in the program. This position will require flexibility for possible Monday through Saturday scheduling, with the department determining which days will comprise the 40-hour work week based upon production and scheduling demands. 

Required qualifications:

-High School diploma with at least one year of Algebra
-Valid driver’s license

Skills to be successful in the role:

-Strong mechanical aptitude, proficient in math, written communication and oral communication.
-Experience working with hand tools and power tools is preferred
-Any previous experience as an electrician is preferred
