Job Title: Project Engineer

My client is seeking an Application/Project Engineer to join their team.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering, commercial strategy, and financial analysis. The successful candidate will contribute to both the technical and commercial success of projects, supporting activities from initial enquiry through to final delivery.

This is a varied position involving analytical work, cross-functional collaboration, customer engagement, and oversight of project execution. The role may require occasional travel for site visits, stakeholder meetings, or project-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

– Review technical drawings, product specifications, and manufacturing processes.

– Develop detailed cost estimates including materials, labour, overheads, and external services.

– Analyse project feasibility and identify opportunities for cost optimisation.

– Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to understand technical requirements.

– Provide technical input and supporting documentation during proposal and bidding stages.

– Contribute to solution development aligned with customer expectations and operational capability.

– Prepare detailed quotations and technical proposals.

– Ensure pricing structures align with company objectives and commercial strategy.

– Support negotiations and clarify technical or commercial queries when required.

– Monitor industry trends and competitor positioning.

– Contribute to pricing strategies based on market conditions and cost intelligence.

– Act as a technical point of contact during pre- and post-award stages.

– Assist in presentations, technical discussions, and specification reviews.

– Support the transition from proposal to project execution.

– Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordination to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

– Monitor progress to ensure alignment with agreed technical and financial targets.

– Maintain clear records of estimates, proposals, and project data.

– Contribute to reporting on costing trends, margins, and project performance.

Skills & Experience Required:

– Background in engineering or a related technical discipline.

– Strong analytical skills with commercial awareness.

– Comfortable interpreting technical drawings and specifications.

– Effective communicator with the ability to liaise across technical and non-technical teams.

– Organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

– Proficiency in standard office and costing tools.
