Job Purpose

The Electrification team is searching for a technically skilled and motivated Application Engineer to manage projects and relationships with our customers mainly for the low voltage motors developed at our UK Location Chudleigh, but also for all other electrification products and accessories. Being located at our United Kingdom subsidiary Lindley, reporting to the Dana TM4 AE Manager UK.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

•    Primary, single-point technical contact, in conjunction with Sales, with customers
•    Provide application engineering services for the Electrification portfolio, i.e. for motors, inverters, vehicle controllers and auxiliaries

-Identify customer requirements
-Conduct analysis & simulations and define potential solutions
-Work with product specialists to confirm feasibility of the identified potential solutions
-Participate in the development of client quotes and requirements and lead design review process
•    Do project management to assure successful launches of customer programs
•    Work closely with the sales team to exceed sales growth targets and grow our Electrification business in the targeted regions
•    Grow strong relationships with the customers leadership, especially in the technical areas
•    Communicate customer needs and concerns throughout all levels of the organization both verbally and through various written texts and presentations. Develop and maintain project schedules as agreed upon between internal/external customers and Dana TM4
•    Actively interface with engineering, product planning, manufacturing and sales functions within the organization
•    Interface with the different Dana TM4 technical centers to address customer requests
•    Provide leadership to overcome technical challenges and to deliver new products to meet customer expectations
•    Present electrification technologies from a technical standpoint, and be aware of the latest developments in the area
•    Develop, improve and provide advanced-level product training programs for employees, customers and service people
•    Support new product introduction, on-site and remote vehicle commissioning and technical meetings and troubleshooting field issues

Education and Qualification

•    Degree in Electrical, Mechatronic or Software Engineering
•    3-5 years’ experience in electrical vehicles, motors and/or inverters application engineering or product development, experience from the area of power electronics or e-motor design is also welcome.

Skills and Competencies

•    Good knowledge of electric vehicle systems
•    Knowledge of software and control systems
•    Good knowledge of inverter and electric motor
•    Both strategic and hands on; able to lead in execution as well as develop strategy.  
•    Able to make decisions independently with appropriate level of consultation/communication. 
•    Strong communication skills, both oral and written, at all levels 
•    Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (25% of the time) 
•    Accomplished project manager with ability to work successfully in a matrix environment
•    Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
•    Effective listener and communicator
•    Solution-oriented and autonomous
•    Able to effectively interface with other disciplines in the organization to achieve result
•    Proficient technical skills Microsoft Office; PowerPoint, Excel, Lotus Notes
•    Excellent customer relationship management skills
•    Excellent awareness of technology trends and EV market trends
•    Experienced in managing system level product developments
•    Asset: Experience in embedded SW design.
•    Asset: Knowledge of Altassian tools (BitBucket, JIRA, Confluence)
•    Asset: Knowledge of Polarion software
•    Asset: Knowledge of ISO26262 standard
•    Asset: Any of the following language: French, German, Italian or Chinese
