Application Engineer

SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
The Application Engineer is responsible for representing Corning as a product and system expert for the EMEA region. The Application Engineer must be technically knowledgeable about the application, assembly and specifications of Corning Optical Communications products in order to provide correct information to our customers quickly and reliably. The Application Engineer must understand the customer needs and promote the value of Corning solutions which meet those needs in order to achieve the highest profitability.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provide technical support, training and presentations of Corning products directly to end customer, installer, or distribution partners
-Advise customers (internal or external) about products and their use in various applications. Must be able to explain benefits and determine detailed list of part numbers required for a system solution in order to fulfill customer RFQs (request for quote)
-Create datasheets and technical papers and customer responses as needed
-Provide pre-sales and after sales customer support including product recommendation, system design, system installation training, testing, and troubleshooting at customer site
-Provide feedback to development/PLM (product line management) regarding new product evaluation, product improvements and compliance to regional standards and norms
REQUIREMENTS:
-Required Education:
University Engineering Degree
-Required Years and Area of Experience:
Preferred Telecom or Datacom: 2-5 years
-Required Skills:
-Fluent Polish, Strong English writing and speaking skills
-Demonstrated Technical Support Experience (customer oriented, field solutions, timely responses)
-Basic mechanical /troubleshooting/repair skills
-Ability to convey technical, complex ideas to highly technical customers/colleagues or – as well – less technically inclined customers/colleagues
-Ability to work comfortably in team collaboration in order to support others, learn from others and share information with others
-Strong computer skills (MS Windows based: Power point, Word, Excel, Visio)
-Energetic with a desire to learn
-Desired Skills
-Enterprise and Data Center Network Design knowledge and related proven experience
-Knowledge of active equipment application: Ethernet switches, IP routers, OLT/ONT, etc.
-Basic programming skills (Python, VBA, Office 365 Apps).
-Any additional EMEA language (French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, etc) will be considered as a plus
Travel Requirements: up to 25% of the working time as required.
