Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) is a regional treaty aiming at achieving favourable conservation status of the populations of migratory waterbirds. The AEWA Secretariat is administered by UNEP and is responsible for advancing the agenda of the Agreement and supporting the implementation of its provision in close cooperation with governments, UN entities and other organizations. The individual contractor will work under the day-to-day supervision of the Coordinator of the Information Management, Communications and Awareness-raising Unit (IMCA). The individual contractor will be responsible for performing the following duties, as required: 1. Developing a production plan for the three animations • In coordination with the IMCA unit, establish a timeline for development, production and delivery of the animations, immediately following the start of the contract. 2. Support the IMCA unit in the development the animation scripts following the agreed storyline proposed by the AEWA Secretariat • In close coordination with the IMCA Unit, ensure the storyline is in line with the three topics proposed by the AEWA Secretariat and advise on the best adaptation of the synopsis to specific animation esthetics and industry standards. 3. Develop and deliver the animations in two languages • Finalize the script editing, develop the storyboard, record voice-over audio and work on including the French adaptation. • Provide design elements in separate vector format for the possibility of adaptation in fuure promotional material. • Provide the final product in high-quality uncompressed video formats.
Qualifications/special skills
A first university level degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in Design, Videography, Multimedia, Cinema, and Communication or any other relevant fine arts field. A High School Diploma in combination with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the first-level university degree. At least 2 years of working experience in the area of creative design, communication and multimedia is required. Experience in the topics related to the environment, sustainable development or biodiversity conservation is highly desired.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the AEWA Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
