You will be responsible for teaching mainly in the area of administrative law, on a daytime and/or evening and Saturday basis in the Bachelor of Law program. You will also be responsible for teaching introductory law (large auditorium, Block 1 Law, daytime hours) and legal theory (seminars, Block 3 Law, daytime hours) in the Bachelor of Law program.
You will be attached to the IRIS-L Institute (the institute that federates the research entities of the Saint-Louis site in Brussels) and be actively involved in the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Constitutional and Administrative Law (CIRC – https://www.circ.usaintlouis.be/).You will participate in and initiate collective projects conducted within the center. In the course of your career, you will direct theses and seek external funding for new projects, in particular from the FRS-FNRS, the Federal Science Policy, the Brussels-Capital Region and the European Union.You will need to demonstrate an ability to develop activities with other research centers, in particular with the Séminaire interdisciplinaire d’études juridiques (SIEJ – http://www.siej.usaintlouis.be/).
Once tenured, you will carry out various service activities and responsibilities within the institution, such as being a member of a programme committee or examination committee, or having management responsibilities within the faculty or research institute.You will also contribute to serving society, particularly in the economic, social, cultural or development cooperation fields. Finally, you will ensure, through research and teaching activities, the university’s international visibility.Who we’re looking for
You have a PhD in Law. You have completed your experience with doctoral or post-doctoral stays abroad.
You have a proven track record in university teaching, with evidence where possible by formal evaluations.
Teaching skills:
You must demonstrate a significant experience in public speaking.
You will also have a high-quality and innovative teaching project that aims for student inclusion and participation but also for an interaction with practice and extralegal disciplines.
You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your skills and your teaching project during a lesson in administrative law to be given in the presence of the hiring committee.
University teaching experience is an asset. Ideally, such experience will have been acquired in different settings (large lecture halls and small groups, for example).Scientific qualifications:
You must have completed a doctoral thesis in public law, the excellence of which is attested, among other things, by the defense report.
You must also have a significant number of scientific publications in public law, in peer-reviewed collective works and in Belgian or international journals.
You must be able to work well in a teaching team and integrate research findings into your teaching. You are capable of conducting high-level scientific research, from obtaining funding for such research to managing a team. You are creative and open to pedagogical innovation and to multidisciplinarity.
