What you’ll build:
We are looking for an AI platform engineering team lead to shape and scale the delivery by our growing AI Infrastructure and Operations team. In this role you will own the delivery backlog implementing the vision for the topic. You will collaborate closely with technical platform leadership and stakeholders to shape the strategic direction for AI Infrastructure and Operations, and its service catalog targeted at enabling scalable and responsible AI solutions developed and deployed across a growing number of platforms (Azure Databricks, Azure ML, SAP BTP Kyma).
You will be instrumental in growing the team, as well as shaping and scaling the team’s delivery process and support function(s) to ensure the uninterrupted operation of business-critical services. To ensure future-proof and scalable infrastructure for the business, you will advocate for good engineering practices, security, automation, and observability, while mindful of the inherent tradeoffs in delivering business outcomes.
This is a multifaceted expert role in which the successful candidate will benefit from a solid technical background as much as from their experience building, scaling, leading, and advocating for engineering teams.
Key responsibilities:
-Collaborate with stakeholders, customers, and end users to capture needs, value drivers, and buy-in
-Elaborate, maintain, and communicate the AI Infrastructure and Operations backlog acting in alignment with technical platform leadership, translating requirements into work items based on clear definitions of ready/done (in JIRA)
-Define, maintain, and communicate the AI Infrastructure and Operations service catalog
-Work closely with your team to define technical strategy and component architectures, and translate those to business-level objectives for the overarching platform offering(s)
-Own AI Infrastructure and Operations official support channel(s) and SLAs, maintaining a healthy balance between operations and development
-Serve as the product owner for your agile team, driving clarity and setting priorities, and acting to remove roadblocks and resolve dependencies in partnership with your agile coach
-Define and track success metrics, leveraging user feedback and data to identify process gaps and inefficiencies, and work proactively on continuous improvement
-Take active part in the recruitment and selection process for your agile team
-Keep abreast of developments in infrastructure as code, security, observability, and platform operations
What you bring:
-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field
-Skilled in agile product delivery (Scrum/SAFE) with hands-on Jira expertise and proven experience of cross-functional collaboration
-Excellent communication-, stakeholder-management-, and prioritization skills
-Proven experience managing and scaling technical support functions (L1/L2/L3)
-Experience defining KPIs, analyzing user feedback, and iterating products and services responsibly with awareness of safety and compliance
-Strong understanding of networking, workload isolation, container orchestration, cybersecurity, observability
-Proven experience in infrastructure as code, preferably delivering cloud-based services (Terraform, MS Azure, Jenkins preferred)
-Good command of high-level programming and scripting languages (Python, Bash preferred)
