Supported Living Worker

Location : Cranleigh, Surrey

Salary: A£22,697 – A£23,508 per year (With an additional A£1,000 Retention Bonus )

Are you looking for a rewarding permanent role supporting adults with additional needs?

Springvale, part of St Joseph’s Specialist Trust, is a supported living house in the heart of the large village of Cranleigh, midway between Horsham and Guildford. The needs of their tenants include autistic spectrum disorders, learning difficulties and language and communication disorders.

The Role

They are looking for a number of caring and empathetic people to join their team.

You will support the tenants to do the same daily activities that you might do in your own life, including cooking, cleaning and shopping for essentials. They also like to access the community, and you may be accompanying them to visit local facilities or attractions, attend college or on trips further afield. Springvale is their home, and the tenants like to relax and enjoy their leisure time. Due to the rural location, the role requires driving tenants and staff using your personal vehicle (appropriately insured) and / or Motability / company vehicles, with appropriate license. This will be discussed at interview.

Sometimes the tenants may get frustrated, anxious and emotional and you will need to guide them through it by helping them to manage their feelings and behaviour. Comprehensive training and mentoring mean they will equip you with the confidence to support these young adults and provide safe and effective intervention if needed. If you are recruited, you will be required to complete Team Teach positive behaviour support training before employment. Physical and mental resilience and a ‘can do’ attitude are essential. Own transport is desirable because this location is semi-rural.

Skills and Qualifications

Experience is not essential as you will receive and excellent, comprehensive induction programme and ongoing support and training. Subject to two years’ service and completion of the QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (enrolment after probation has been completed – approximately 26 weeks), it is possible to rise to Senior Support Worker*. The cost of the diploma is covered by the Trust. They have vacancies for 37 hours per week on a rota basis including alternate weekends for 52 weeks of the year (with sleep-ins as required, paid by submission of timesheet). Shorter working weeks may be possible (though not guaranteed) and can be discussed with the Management Team. Full training and mentoring will be given.

Benefits

* 25 days holiday plus public holidays paid.
* A£1,000 Retention bonus – A£250 after 1 month, A£250 after 1 year, A£500 after 18 months at Trust (subject to tax and NI)
* Life Insurance and Medical cashplan commencing after a month at Trust
* Team Teach positive behaviour support training, refreshed every two years, with ongoing assistance from onsite Team Teach tutors within their Inclusion Team
* Personalised approach to CPD, including training courses paid for by the Trust and regular 1:1 line management support with online appraisals
* Free hot lunch supplied by their in-house catering team during term time
* Ample on-site parking
* Employee assistance service (confidential, professional wellbeing and counselling 24/7 service for you and your family members)
* Excellent network of support across the organisation including a team of Adult Mental Health First Aid and Occupational Health
* Based on a beautiful 23-acre site in a semi-rural area on the edge of the Surrey Hills (own transport is desirable due to semi-rural location)

If you feel you are a suitable candidate and would like to work for this reputable Education Trust, please do not hesitate .

St Joseph’s Specialist Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This position requires an enhanced DBS disclosure and take up of references.
