DepartmentThe Archaeology Data Service (ADS) is a world-leading digital repository which provides digital data archiving services for UK archaeology and heritage. We are based in the King’s Manor in the University of York but we work closely with external partners, both in Higher Education and in the public and commercial archaeological sectors. We are an established component of UKRI’s digital research infrastructure and we are also active in international collaborations, as a leading member of the ARIADNE European Research Infrastructure. As a result of a successful £14.4m bid to AHRC under the RICHeS programme we are now leading a consortium to develop and host a Heritage Science Data Service (HSDS).RoleThis new role will play a crucial part in ensuring sound financial management and good practice in a world-leading digital archive for the UK’s national heritage sector. The postholder will work alongside the existing ADS User Support and Finance Assistant to provide additional financial and administrative support for the Archaeology Data and Heritage Science Data Services and for a range of European Commission funded research projects. They will act as a point of contact for financial queries, and dealing with a range of transactional duties such as raising purchase orders and the processing of invoices, payments, expenses and casual payroll, monitoring of spend by partners, and preparation of timesheets for reporting of research spend. They will work with the HSDS Service Manager to deliver a programme of cascading grants, monitoring financial spend by partners.Skills, Experience & Qualification neededYou will have experience of financial processing in a large organisation, and experience of large financial systems (e.g. Agresso) is desirable.You should be able to accurately record, analyse, interpret and report information/data and to use digital technologies including Google applications and/or Microsoft Office.You will be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats and organise activities and resources.
