Offer DescriptionThe Division of the Particle Physics and Astrophysics at the Henryk Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences is currently seeking a qualified postdoctoral research assistant( adjunct) to work on the ATLAS experiment at the LHC on up to 33-months fixed-term contract.The postholder will be joining the ATLAS experiment department. Our department’s interest is focused on searches for new physics in the extended Higgs sector, heavy-ion physics, and operational support of the ATLAS Inner Tracker detector. We also contribute to the ATLAS Phase 2 Upgrade silicon microstrip tracker. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, integration and commissioning of the powering services for the new microstrip tracking detector ITk Strip for ATLAS experiment upgrade for HL-LHC and physics analysis of heavy ion collision data from ATLAS experiment. The employed candidate will also be obliged to disseminate the results of research in the form of publications in leading scientific journals indexed in the JCR and speeches during seminars and conferences, including international ones.   • doctor degree in physical sciences or related disciplines: Particle Physics, Detector Physics,
  • knowledge of the analysis techniques in high energy physics,
  • experience with particle physics experiments, particularly in the context of large-scale collaborations such as ATLAS, CMS, or similar,
  • proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and Python, as well as data analysis tools such as ROOT,
  • very good knowledge of spoken and written English,
  • ability to document research activities, results, and findings for internal reports, conference presentations, and academic publications.

Welcome:

  • background in detector development, with experience in silicon sensors, readout electronics, power supplies, detector control systems or related technologies,
  • hands-on experience with electronic laboratory equipment like power supplies, oscilloscope, multimeters.

Additional commentsA person employed for a definite period (up to 33 months) as an adjunct (post-doc) will receive a monthly basic salary ranging from PLN 6,000 to PLN 7,000.00, depending on the person’s achievements.
