Accounts Assistant – Accountancy Practice

Full Time | Permanent
Shrewsbury | Monday-Friday | 37.5 hours

Are you an Accounts Assistant with experience in an accountancy practice , looking for a stable role where you can genuinely develop your skills and build a long term future?

This is a great opportunity to join a well-established professional practice, working with a varied client portfolio in a supportive, team-focused environment. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to accounts preparation, VAT and bookkeeping, with ongoing support and development.

What You’ll Be Doing

* Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts and management accounts
* Bookkeeping and processing financial records for a range of clients
* Preparing and submitting VAT returns, ensuring deadlines are met
* Supporting compliance work and maintaining accurate financial records
* Liaising with clients and colleagues to deliver work accurately and on time
* Working closely with Managers and Directors on ad hoc projects
* Supporting junior team members when required

What We’re Looking For

* Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant within an accountancy practice (essential)
* AAT qualified or studying towards AAT (or equivalent)
* Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT and accounts preparation
* Well organised, detail-focused and confident managing multiple deadlines
* A strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a team
* Ambitious and keen to build a long-term career in accountancy
