About This Role:

The Accounting Assistant will report into the accounting manager and will be responsible for a broad range of activities in the UK office concentrating mainly on the administration of the Swedish and German entities, as well as supporting projects on the finance team.

This individual will work as part of the European finance team to maintain high quality and accurate reporting and to drive projects focusing on efficiency and process improvements.

Job Responsibilities:

• Administer the month-end and quarter-end close in accordance with GAAP, including reconciliation of all general ledger accounts for the Swedish and German entities.

• Maintain the fixed asset register, bank reconciliation, other balance sheet account specifications, and intercompany transactions.

• Liaise with the payroll provider regarding the accurate and timely processing of payroll.

• Recommend and implement improvements to further automate close processes.

• Complete the VAT returns and any wage tax returns for the entities.

• Generate analyses of significant accounts and perform ad hoc financial analysis as needed.

• Oversee monthly and quarterly management accounts.

• Attend to the requirements of statutory auditors and assist with tax filings.

• Assist the team with finance projects.

• Other duties as necessary.

• Studied/studying AAT or has an accounting degree or similar.

• Applied knowledge level ACCA or equivalent CIMA/ACA is a bonus.

• At least two years of work experience in a finance team with some accounting responsibilities.

• Proven analytical skills and solid business experience.

• Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and business partnering skills are essential.

• Must be able to work well independently as well as in a team.

• Good working knowledge of financial applications and Microsoft Excel.

• Someone who is organized and flexible, self-motivated, and has strong attention to detail.
