JOB PURPOSE
As an Accountant, Indirect Tax Processing at Burberry, you will be responsible for supporting the wider Indirect Tax and Statutory accounting team in ensuring that all in scope regulatory submissions, including Intrastat and Indirect tax returns, are completed accurately and to deadlines.
This Accountant, Indirect Tax Processing role is offered on a permanent full time basis and will be based in our Queen Street Leeds office 2/3 days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Supporting the timely completion of key indirect tax process, from Intrastat processes and returns, to Indirect Tax returns
-Preparing information to support VAT refund claims and requests from tax authorities for tax audits
-Responding to ad hoc queries efficiently and effectively
-Inputting data required to produce reports around Indirect Tax reporting and reclaim processes
-Working collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders, across Finance, IT, Commercial and other functions
-Supporting the development of documentation for the Indirect Tax Processing team
-Identifying opportunities to improve processes and controls around indirect tax processes
-Developing awareness and learning of best practice Indirect Tax processing concepts, technology and methodologies, ensuring these are implemented at Burberry to the extent possible
PERSONAL PROFILE
-Practical experience within a finance and accounting role
-Indirect tax experience preferred
-Studying towards a professional accounting qualification (ACA, CA, CTA, ACCA or CIMA)
-Works collaboratively within a team
-Requires good understanding of IT systems and processes – SAP training is a plus.
-Good written and verbal communication, skills especially stakeholder management
-Creates effective relationships through interpersonal skills
-Excellent attention to detail
-Ability to deliver under pressure and handle multiple priorities and operational demands
