Job Title: Accountant (Inventory)

Salary: £45,350 per annum + Dependent Upon Experience

Location : Peterborough, UK – Minimum 3 days a week in the office

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Inventory Accounting Business Partner role within the Inventory, Material & Costing Team at our Caterpillar facility in Peterborough.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the reporting and analysis of results of not only the inventory costs for the Peterborough facility, but also the consolidation of the overall global inventory for the business unit, including month end, accountable reporting and annual planning and forecasting cycles.

You will Business Partner with the Supply Chain Leadership team offering analytics and insights to support decision making as well as in the completion of inventory reporting, including monthly presentation.

There will also be the opportunity to drive end to end process improvements for business insight reporting using lean thinking and support continuous process improvement through utilization of digital tools such as Alteryx and MS Power BI.

What You Will Do:

  • Maintain financial records in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards in collaboration with an accounting Service Centre.

  • Utilize automated tools to support monthly analysis and reporting processes.

  • Support improvement projects to streamline and standardize Inventory processes.

  • Completion of monthly corporate reporting requirements.

  • Support Inventory related financial forecasting.

  • Ensure accuracy and compliance of Inventory transactions.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Supply Chain Leadership team and operational business partners at facilities around the globe.

What You Have:

  • Education/Experience: Educated to a degree level or qualified by experience. Professional Certification (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)

  • Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.

  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

  • Strong Microsoft office skills essential.

Desirable candidates may demonstrate some of the following:

  • Experience of data analytics and visualisation tools such as MS PowerBI, MS PowerApps, or Alteryx

  • Experience of accounting within a manufacturing environment

  • Experience in supporting or leading process improvements with a lean mindset.

  • A curiosity for processes and the desire to always improve with changing business needs.
