Accountant

Wood is recruiting for an Accountant to join our Operations team in Aberdeen. This is a full time, permanent position with hybrid working of 3 days a week in our Head Office in Aberdeen and two days remote.

The Role

The position sits in our Operated Assets business where you will ensure all accounting entries (i.e. project, contract, service line) are recorded in an accurate and timely manner. This involves the provision of timely reporting of financial data internally to business stakeholders and externally to the client. Furthermore, financial reporting will extend to forecasts, budgets and a “no surprises” outlook, together with ad-hoc financial analysis.

Operated Assets sits with Wood’s Operations EMEA business and is based in Aberdeen. We build long term strategic relationships with clients across each of our 4 sub-service lines: Decommissioning, Operations & Maintenance, Duty Holder and Optimised Energy. We project manage decommissioning scopes and provide skilled people offshore to help our clients get the best out their assets and keep them ahead. We introduce the latest digital and decarb tools Wood has to offer making sure we are continuously driving value for clients and keep making them smarter and faster.

• Ensure that all accounting entries are prepared accurately and in line with corporate deadlines
• Ensure invoices are prepared in a timely manner and in accordance with the commercial terms of the contract
• Ensure results are accurately reported and analysed
• Calculation of billing and cost rates, and analysis of margins to manage profitability
• Preparation of annual plan and quarterly reforecast in conjunction with Business Management and Finance team
• Responsibility for compliance with Financial management Framework within the individual’s sphere of control
• Focus on cash collection, optimisation of DSO and minimisation of unbilled items together with ensuring these balance sheet areas are appropriately reconciled, analysed and controlled
• Liaising with external, internal and client auditors
• Linkage with business manager and contracts administrator regarding any contractual aspects
• Execution of various ad hoc financial analysis and tasks as and when required

Expected:

• Further education through College or University with a recognised accounting qualification
• Strong accounting experience
• Proficient user of Excel
• People supervision skills
• Good commercial knowledge
• Good systems experience (e.g. Oracle, Hyperion)
• Ability to form and maintain strong working relationships
• Strong ethical values and communicates with openness and honesty

Desirable:

• Working towards CIMA / ACCA / CPA or equivalent
