Offer DescriptionFor this call, we are seeking applications for one research support technician position in gravitational wave physics to bolster our involvement in the LIGO Scientific Collaboration. The successful candidate will be involved in research lines (LIA-3) ‘Gravitational Wave Experiments and Multi-messenger Astronomy’ and ‘Computing, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence’ (LIA-8) on the following project: ‘Advanced Technologies for the Exploration of the Universe and its Components.’In particular, they will be involved in:
– Analysing data from the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA O4 observation run
– Characterising LIGO detectors.Research in the gravitational physics group at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) spans a wide range of topics, including gravitational wave data analysis, waveform modelling and numerical relativity. The group comprises PIs Alicia Sintes and Sascha Husa and faculty members David Keitel, Xisco Jiménez-Forteza, Antoni Ramos and Jaume Carot, as well as several post-doctoral researchers and PhD students.
