Job description

Offer DescriptionThe successful candidate will undertake tasks within the framework of the WET-ARID project, specifically those linked to objective 2.2. They will develop a methodology to select cold air pool (CAP) and fog events. They will subsequently perform and analyse mesoscale simulations using the MesoNH for CAP events with and without fog. Objective 2.2 comprises the following:
Cold-season CAP and fog events and their impact on water budgets.
CAP events are likely to form over the lower basin of the Ebro on clear nights under locally-driven wind conditions, due to the specific area’s topography; these events are particularly strong in winter and linked to persistent fog events. The main purpose of objective 2.2 is to characterise sub-basin-scale CAP events and their impact on surface exchanges in order to understand the processes leading to surface condensation or ET, which affect the surface water budget.PI: María Antonia Jiménez CortésFunding body: Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (MICINN)Institution: Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) / University of the Balearic Islands (UIB)Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field Environmental science » Earth science Education Level Bachelor Degree or equivalentSkills/QualificationsA Degree in Physics.
