Offer DescriptionThe successful candidate will be part of the UIB ‘Flow Injection and Trace Analysis (FI-TRACE)’ research group and undertake tasks linked to project TED2021-131303B-I00: ‘Holistic Marine Bioremediation Strategies based on Artificial Reefs’, funded by the MICIU through the call for strategic projects addressing ecological and digital transition within the 2021-2023 National Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation. All activities fall under the framework of ‘Green Employment (Minimising Waste and Pollution)’ within the FI-TRACE research area into ‘Flow Analysis Methods for Solving Environmental Problems and Recreational Water Analysis’.The successful candidate will undertake the following tasks:1-Assessing the bioremediation capacity of sponge reefs located at the endpoint of marine outfalls at wastewater treatment plants2-Determining emerging organic pollutants, such as pharmaceuticals, plasticisers, cosmetic products and flame retardants in coastal marine ecosystems3-Developing new analysis methodology based on miniaturised and automated systems to determine traces of emerging pollutants in marine samples4-Assessing sample preparation methods for emerging pollutant preconcentration5-Optimising chromatography and mass spectrometry methods to separate and identify emerging pollutants6-Analysing bioactive products generated by sponge reefs as defence systems to tackle possible environmental pollution, with a view to using biomass within a circular economy modelPI: Dr. Manuel Miró LladóFunding body: Unió Europea – Next Generation EUInstitution: Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) / University of Balearic Islands (UIB)Where to apply WebsiteRequirementsResearch Field Chemistry » Analytical chemistry Education Level Bachelor Degree or equivalentSkills/QualificationsAt the time of hiring, having an undergraduate degree that has been validated by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training or the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (formerly, the Ministry of Universities) and linked to the relevant area. Qualifications linked to the subject matter, preferably chemistry.
