Working together with the network of global hubs and coordinating with procurement centres and the Emergency Coordination Unit to ensure optimal stock levels to meet the demand of UNICEF Country programmes as well as emergency support.How can you make a difference?The Warehouse Inventory and Management Centre is looking for committed and versatile collaborators that provide assistance in the Incoming, Outgoing and Production areas, as well as support for the various Warehouse Unit led projects and initiatives.Under the general guidance and supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for the receiving, storage, packing and loading operations in the Supply Division (SD) Warehouse in Copenhagen.The position is required to perform mandatory shift work (day/evening) and overtime for emergency response. The position may also be required to undertake field deployments to support the establishment of new warehouses and processes that respond to UNICEF emergencies.1. Shipping and Receiving:

  • Load and un-load trucks and containers using forklift and other equipment.
  • Move and stack goods and boxes using pallets, forklifts, or hand trucks. Receive, inspect, and record incoming shipments from suppliers and other hubs. Create error reporting for all incompliant shipments with a view to packaging, palletization, and labelling requirements. Create put-away of shipments into the warehouse according to strategies in place in accordance with the procedures.
  • Prepare shipments according to customer requirements and procedures in place.

Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments and generate and update inventory and shipping documents.2. Order Picking and Packing:

  • Undertake picking operations on Pre-pick and De-pall with a view to procedures in place to ensure high quality of packing.
  • Monitor product expiration dates and facilitate the rotation of stock, and follow the first expiry, first-out (FEFO) principle.
  • Support and undertake packing of deliveries on Short Lines with a view to procedures in place to ensure high quality and efficiency of packing.
  • Undertake packing operations for production orders (kits) on the Long Line and the Mini-Load with a view to procedures in place to ensure high quality and efficiency of packing.
  • Organize and prepare the Long Line and Mini-Load operations for kit production, including overseeing the management and supervision of staff responsible for packing the kits.

3. Inventory Management:

  • Perform annual physical inventory count, monthly counts, and ad-hoc counts.
  • Perform line clearing and report any discrepancies.

4. Cleaning and Organizing:

  • Perform general warehouse maintenance including cleaning of the warehouse and warehouse equipment and ensure a clean and orderly warehouse environment. Ensure equipment is well-maintained and report any malfunctions.

5. Safety Compliance:

  • Comply with safety rules and regulations and wear appropriate protective gear.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately to the supervisors or the appointed safety committee members.

6. Others:

  • Supervision of temporary laborers at SD warehouse.
  • Performance of any other duties as requested by the Supervisors.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…The following minimum requirements:

  • Education: Completion of secondary education
  • Work Experience: Minimum four (4) years of professional experience from a similar operation.
  • Language: Fluency in English.
  • Forklift certificate and ability to operate a forklift or other warehouse equipment.
  • Basic math and computer skills (SAP, WMS).
  • Teamwork and communication skills.
  • Shift work (day and evening) is mandatory for this position.
  • Flexibility and willingness to perform overtime, and work weekends for emergency response/heavy workload upon request.

  • Education: Training in warehouse and logistics
  • Language: Working knowledge of another UN language (Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese, Arabic).
  • Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certificate.
