University of CopenhagenThe University seeks to appoint a clinical professor of Plastic Surgery with special focus on advanced reconstructive surgery to commence as soon as possible. The externally funded professorship is combined with a consultancy at Department of Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit, Centre of Head and Orthopaedics at Copenhagen University Hospital – Rigshospitalet in the Capital Region.It is a requirement for appointment that the applicant is accepted for both the professorship and the consultancy. In the consideration of applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant’s ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of Plastic Surgery.The professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:
The role of the professor will be to initiate and facilitate research of the highest international standard, to initiate national and international collaborations, raise funding for research, conduct clinical trials, conduct register-based research, and translate the results into evidence-based treatments in all fields of plastic surgery. * Research-based teaching, including associated examinationThe professor will be responsible for supervising master students, PhD students and post docs. Furthermore, the professor is expected to contribute to the teaching of medical students and to develop new teaching methods and formats in plastic surgery. * Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchersThe professor will be expected to lead research within clinical plastic surgery with special emphasis on the development of new techniques for advanced reconstructions. Also, the professor will be expected to spread knowledge through a global network of peers and will be responsible for congress organization on a leadership level. * Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
