Principal Investigator: dr hab. Iwona ChlebickaThe National Science Center project „Measure data problems”, led by dr hab. Iwona Chlebicka, is offering a postdoctoral research position in the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw.Terms of employment
Selected candidate will be employed as full-time researcher (pol. adiunkt). The duration of employment is 6 months, with possible extension to 9 months if the funding will be available. The starting date is no earlier than March 1, 2025 – to be agreed with the selected candidate. The offered salary is 6840 PLN per month pre-tax. The position comes with no teaching obligations. Selected candidate will conduct research on the project objectives.Description of the project
Classical theories of elasticity and fluid mechanics are expressed by the use of nonlinear partial differential equations under assumption that the involved nonlinearities are close to polynomials, but it is not sufficient to describe physical phenomena of inhomogeneous materials. In order to model such substances and phenomena it is necessary to admit operators with nonstandard growth, and this leads to problems stated in more unconventional functional framework like the Musielak-Orlicz spaces.
The aim of the project is investigation on properties of the involved functional spaces, which are needed in study on mentioned models. In particular, in order to stress the meaning of the results we plan to apply them in analysis of elliptic and parabolic problems with nonstandard growth, posed in the mentioned generalized spaces. Besides existence and regularity of various notions of very weak solutions to measure data problems, we shall be interested in their regularity Requirements
We expect that candidates at the moment of employment hold a PhD degree in mathematics obtained no earlier than 5 years before the year of employment in project. This time can be extended by a year and a half per each child born or adopted being under personal care of the applicant.
We also expect research experience in the field of nonlinear differential equations and fluency in English, both written and spoken.
During the employment period the employee cannot receive salary under an employment contract from any other entity.
Candidates eligible to participate in the competition must meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Journal of Laws 2024, item 1571, as amended).Applications

● a copy of PhD Diploma
● a scientific CV with list of publiactions
● at most three recent publications
● a brief research statement regarding past and present research.
On the day of submitting the application, the candidate does not have to hold a PhD degree.

Applications which do not satisfy the above requirements or are submitted after the deadline will not be considered for the position.
The applications will be evaluated by a selection committee appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw. The committee may invite candidate to a meeting, which will be conducted remotely.
