University of CopenhagenThe Department of Mathematical Sciences invites applications for a professor of operations research position. The application deadline is September 1, 2024, and the starting date is February 1, 2025, or as soon as possible, subject to negotiation.The successful candidate must have an internationally recognized record of outstanding research achievement contributing to the applicant’s specialization area. Applicants with expertise in stochastic optimization and applications to energy will be preferred.Applicants are required to have university-level teaching experience and documented teaching competencies. They must also be able to explain and reflect upon their teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training program for assistant professors is required.Duties include the applicant’s research, field development, assessment tasks, grant applications, and research management, such as supervising and training research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, supervise, prepare, and participate in examinations and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department.The assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field and their documented teaching qualifications. Managerial and outreach qualifications of applicants, including their ability to attract external funding, will also be considered.Six overall criteria apply for professor appointments at the University of Copenhagen. The six criteria (research, teaching, societal impact, organizational contribution, external funding, and leadership) are considered a framework for assessing the candidates.
