This is an exciting opportunity to join a strategically important team with a focus on supporting students to secure work experience activity.

Employability is central to our university mission, and always has been. Our employability offer and performance is an important part of the University value proposition and is a key student recruitment and attraction tool. It is also intrinsically connected to the student experience, our alumni offer and learning and teaching as well as research and knowledge exchange. More widely it is part of the commitment Aston makes to students and graduates which transforms lives.

Your contribution to Aston’s mission, exploitable research and employable graduates, will be to support the Careers and Placements Team’s strategic aim of maximising positive graduate destination outcomes for all students with a particular focus on increasing placement uptake.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our busy but friendly team, to facilitate and support increasing numbers of students into work experience opportunities in the UK and overseas, creatively overcoming student’s barriers and challenges. As part of the Placements Team, you will have responsibility for your own student cohorts. You will market placements to students over the phone, virtually and face to face to stimulate and increase demand as well as deliver student preparation activities through Caseload Management, recruitment and selection technique sessions and skills development workshops.

An important part of this role is to work closely with other departments and academic colleges to design and implement an integrated, responsive, and highly flexible activity programme that will support students’ before, during and after placement.

Educated to A level or equivalent, you will need to enjoy working under pressure and achieving targets. This is a hands-on role that requires an enthusiastic and innovative individual. You must be able to think on your feet, work independently but also as part of a team with ability to empower and inspire students.

Anonymous shortlisting will be carried out for this role as part of Aston University’s commitment to equality and diversity and ensuring a fair and consistent approach to recruitment. Personal details that are included on application forms, including the candidate’s name and address will not be disclosed to the shortlisting panel. CVs will not be considered as part of the shortlisting process.

Aston University is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.  It promotes equality and diversity in all aspects of its work. We strive to have robust inclusivity strategies in place, including race and sexual orientation, to encourage colleagues to have the confidence and freedom to be themselves in the workplace.
