Aston University was the Guardian’s University of the Year in 2020, and the Jobsinbritain’s Entrepreneurial University of the Year 2021. We offer business, science, health and technology-focused programmes across foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and degree apprenticeship levels.
This is an exciting time to join the Student Welfare department – as we significantly grow and develop our teams and services. We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Disability Advisors, who place student experience at the forefront of all that they do and can work proactively in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
Acting as a point of contact for all prospective and current disabled students with ongoing support needs, you will identify and monitor needs within the boundaries of confidentiality as well as considering relevant external factors such as academic regulations and standards, legislation, and the social model of disability. You will be a key point of contact for the students within their designated College throughout their student journey – from the point of application and entry to graduation – providing a supportive and nurturing student experience throughout.
Reporting to the Disability Advice Manager, you will be a key member of staff within Disability & Academic Support, and joining at an exciting time as the team undergoes unprecedented growth and development. Educated to Degree level or an equivalent qualification, with a track record of delivering excellent customer service, you will have experience supporting young adults/students with disabilities, mental health conditions and additional needs.
We aim to have a multicultural team to reflect the University’s student population and welcome applications from all who can help the University to achieve its mission.
The successful candidate would be required to have clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Aston University is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. It promotes equality and diversity in all aspects of its work. We strive to have robust inclusivity strategies in place, including race and sexual orientation, to encourage colleagues to have the confidence and freedom to be themselves in the workplace.
