Description

Works under general supervision, applies engineering concepts to fault find and fix problems of minor/ intermediate complexity machine problems. First/ Second level PSC training completed. Understands machine geography and show competence on utilization of technical manuals. Capable of performing planned maintenance in solo capacity. Some experience of radiation beam adjustments and key components.

The Engineer will be responsible for and servicing of all Elekta products within the area of

responsibility.

This is a homebased role with a requirement to travel throughout the BU and Cluster as required and as directed by their line manager. Engineers are informed by the office in the BU or the appropriate line manager which work needs to be undertaken, engineers are then expected to work under their own initiative to complete the tasks appointed, if necessary, problems or issues are escalated to the BU office.

Activities include planned maintenance, emergency corrective maintenance, upgrades, installation work, courtesy calls to local customers and telephone support either from the office in the BU or from a remote location. Jobs can either be completed within one day or may require the engineer to be away from home for several days at a time. There is a need for occasional travel to sites outside of local BU and cluster.

Technically the work involves a very diverse skill set including fault finding complex electronic

systems down to component level, HT and RF power generation, vacuum systems, water systems, pressurised gas systems, mechanical assembly and adjustment of the radiation beam to achieve the required output specification. Remote tools are expected to be utilised to support the fault- finding process.

All work is to be carried out in accordance with Elekta’s safety instructions and procedures. Any issues or problems that may adversely affect Elekta, the product, its ongoing reliability or the safety of any personnel must be reported to the Service Manager in a timely manner.

Engineers with the relevant knowledge and experience will be expected to guide and assess other engineers on site and advise the Service Manager accordingly.

Upon completion of any work on site, the engineer is required to complete and submit to the

appropriate manager the relevant reports and documentation.

The Engineer will have reached a level of experience that has incorporated all the tasks and

responsibilities of the previous level of Associate Engineer.

  • Capable of using and populating the companies service systems and databases.
  • Is capable of independently performing all planned maintenance tasks.
  • Is capable of independently performing the majority corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Is capable of performing more complex fault finding and repair independently.
  • Good presentational skills able to run local knowledge transfer/service meetings in line

with experience

  • Is capable of providing on the job coaching as appropriate in line with experience.
  • Is competent in the use of IntelliMax and QlikSense to proactively monitor and repair

systems.

  • Has a reasonable awareness and knowledge of the entire solution including software and

planning systems and interfaces.

  • Able to use escalation processes and tools.
  • Has completed the applicable training for this level.
  • Completed all required level 2 training as per learning journey.
  • Operates and communicates effectively with wider audiences.
  • Able to effectively communicate and manage customers’ expectations in intermediate

situations.

  • Is able to interact with customers and manage expectations for all maintenance activities

independently.

  • Has a proactive attitude to maintenance activities.

RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • A higher Qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline.
  • Competent with relevant IT technology including Windows OS, Microsoft Office

applications, networking.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable drive and commitment to Elekta and the tasks in hand.
  • A basic technical and practical competence in Electrical, Electronic and mechanical

maintenance.

  • Capable to read and understand Electrical schematic diagrams.
  • Ability to travel extensively and at short notice in Region Europe
  • Clean Driving Licence
