1:1 Teaching Assistant / SEN Support AssistantSupporting a Child with Severe Emotional Anxiety Term-Time Role(Also suitable for: SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant (LSA), 1:1 Support Assistant, Behaviour Support Assistant, Learning Support Worker)The RoleWe are seeking a calm, patient and emotionally attuned 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with severe emotional anxiety on a one-to-one basis. The child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and requires consistent, nurturing support to help them feel safe, regulated and able to access learning.This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting children with SEMH needs, emotional regulation difficulties or high anxiety. The focus of the role is to build trust, provide reassurance and help the child gradually engage with the school environment at a pace that works for them.Key Responsibilities
Providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day Supporting the child to manage anxiety, emotional regulation and transitions Creating a calm, predictable and supportive presence Encouraging engagement with learning in a way that feels safe and achievable for the pupil Implementing strategies set out in the EHCP and support plans Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and pastoral team Monitoring emotional wellbeing and contributing to progress reviews
What We’re Looking For
Experience supporting children with emotional anxiety, SEMH or mental health needs A calm, patient and empathetic approach Confidence using de-escalation, reassurance and relationship-based strategies Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships A genuine commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
This role would suit someone who has worked as a Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, Learning Support Worker, Behaviour Support Assistant, Youth Support Worker or within a care or pastoral setting.What’s On Offer
