This is where your cardiorenal and inflammatory expertise becomes enterprise impact.
Own the commercial strategy for some of the most complex and consequential assets in cardiorenal and inflammatory medicine. Whether you have spent years developing deep scientific and commercial expertise in cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and inflammatory therapeutics inside the pharmaceutical industry — building investment theses as a senior healthcare equity analyst covering cardiometabolic companies — or leading pipeline strategy and due diligence for cardiorenal and inflammatory clients at a top-tier consulting firm — this role is where that expertise finds its highest expression.
Your new role
As New Product Planning Associate Director within Novo Nordisk’s Diabetes& Early Pipeline & External Innovation team, you will own the commercial strategy for a sub-segment where diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and inflammatory comorbidities intersect. This is not an execution role. It is a role for senior strategic thinkers with deep cardiorenal and inflammatory expertise who are ready to own the outcomes — building the commercial frameworks and investment cases that determine how Novo Nordisk responds to scientifically complex, commercially significant, and deeply underserved opportunities.
You will be responsible for:
style=”margin-top:0.0cm;margin-bottom:0.0cm” type=”disc”-
-Owning all portfolio trade-off decisions and governance-level business cases for the assigned cardiorenal and inflammatory sub-segment — with full accountability for Senior Management alignment and investment endorsement
-Pioneering new analytical frameworks where no template exists — novel biomarker adoption models, combination therapy commercial architectures for cardiorenal assets, stratification tools, and RWE-integrated forecasting systems
-Leading commercial due diligence for external cardiorenal and inflammatory assets and building reusable frameworks for the broader team
-Driving TPP development integrating benefit-harm risk profiles, treatment intensification dynamics, care transition modelling, and hospital access strategies alongside modality-specific commercial thresholds
-Stewarding go/no-go decisions at every governance gate through end-to-end commercial thinking and structured KOL engagement with leading cardiologists, nephrologists, and inflammatory disease specialists
-Mentoring NPP Leads, setting NPP methodology standards, and deputising for the Senior Director of NPP as relevant
Your new department
In Product & Portfolio Strategy we drive commercial strategy, medical affairs and business development across all therapy areas. We act as a connector and compass, guiding the new Novo Nordisk portfolio for sustained competitiveness upstream, and maximising portfolio potential through successful commercial strategies and competitive launches downstream.
The Diabetes& Early Pipeline & External Innovation team works at the frontier of cardiometabolic medicine — in disease areas where the metabolic, cardiorenal, and inflammatory science, the treatment paradigms, and the access landscape are all simultaneously evolving. The commercial questions we face do not have established answers. We build the frameworks, test the hypotheses, and make the cases that move the pipeline forward. We are looking for someone who brings genuine cardiorenal and inflammatory expertise to that challenge — and who finds it genuinely exciting.
Your skills & qualifications
We’re seeking an exceptional strategist who thrives in ambiguity and brings both scientific depth and commercial acumen.
You’ll bring with you:
style=”margin-top:0.0cm;margin-bottom:0.0cm” type=”disc”-
-Master’s or PhD in Economics, Business, Medicine, Biology, or Pharmacy (Life Sciences PhD strongly preferred), or an advanced degree with healthcare equity analyst, investment banking, or leading strategy consulting background
-8+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience in New Product Planning, global marketing, medical affairs, market access, strategy consulting, or business development—including proven track record leading Phase 2 and Phase 3 investment decisions at governance with DCF/P&L business cases and Management endorsement
-Deep therapeutic specialisation in cardiovascular or inflammatory disease areas, with experience navigating complex benefit-harm trade-offs (such as infection or bleeding risks), hospital formulary dynamics, managed entry strategies, and combination therapy commercial architectures
-Demonstrated ability to develop new analytical frameworks and commercial methodologies, lead business development due diligence, and drive indication prioritisation and go/no-go decisions using structured KOL engagement and technical diligence
-Mastery of financial valuation methods including NPV, risk-adjusted modelling, scenario and sensitivity analysis, combined with proficiency in quantitative analytics, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making in agile, iterative commercial planning environments
-Proven ability to influence without authority across complex matrix organisations and to present and defend sophisticated business cases to Executive and Senior Leadership with fluency in written and spoken English
