Role: Machine Learning Researcher – Multimodal Reasoning
Location: Helsinki, Finland
Contract: 12-month rolling contract
Onsite Requirement: 100% onsite (5 days per week)
Rate: EUR700–EUR900 per day (dependent on experience)
Overview
We are seeking a talented and innovative Machine Learning Researcher specialising in multimodal reasoning to join a cutting-edge AI team in Helsinki. This role focuses on developing advanced AI systems capable of understanding and reasoning across complex multimodal data, including text, images, video, and structured knowledge.
You will play a key role in pushing the boundaries of AI research, contributing to novel approaches in reasoning, multimodal understanding, and next-generation model architectures.
Key Responsibilities
-Explore and develop novel techniques in:
-Visual question answering
-Visual and text-based reasoning
-Multimodal knowledge grounding
-Design and implement advanced architectures enabling AI systems to reason over complex multimodal data (e.g. images, video, text, and contextual knowledge)
-Investigate and apply knowledge graphs and neural-symbolic approaches to enhance reasoning capabilities
-Develop efficient and scalable neural network architectures
-Build robust benchmarks and datasets to evaluate reasoning performance, quality, and reliabilityRequirements
-PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Mathematics, or a related field
-Strong theoretical foundation in machine learning, deep learning, and AI
-Expertise in:
-Large Language Models (LLMs) and/or Vision-Language Models (VLMs)
-Neural networks and computer vision architectures
-Graph neural networks
-Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or C++, with hands-on experience in frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
-Proven problem-solving and analytical capabilities
-Demonstrated experience in developing high-performance, scalable multimodal AI systems
-Experience designing efficient model architectures is highly desirable
-Track record of innovation in AI/ML (e.g. novel methods, impactful contributions) is a strong advantage
-Strong publication record in leading conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI)
-Collaborative mindset, comfortable working in multicultural teams, with a passion for innovation and challenging the status quo
