Customer & Market Insights Partner – Data Science/Engineering focus

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Customer & Market Insights
This role empowers you to directly influence the commercial team’s success by building robust data products, advanced analytics, and (agentic) AI-enabled solutions. You will engineer reliable datasets, develop scalable models, and leverage modern AI (including GenAI/LLM capabilities where relevant) to translate complex customer and market signals into actionable insights that drive revenue growth, optimize performance, and strengthen the team’s market impact.

Your new role

This role is integral to enabling data-driven decision-making across commercial teams by owning the end-to-end analytics foundation: sourcing and integrating internal/external data, engineering trusted data sets, and applying data science to generate predictive and prescriptive insights. In addition, you will take end-to-end ownership of production-grade AI-enabled solutions—such as GenAI/LLM-assisted analytics and agentic workflows for insight generation and automation—covering design, build, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement in line with security, compliance, and responsible AI requirements. You will design data pipelines and models, define data standards, and deliver reusable data products (dashboards, semantic layers, features, and ML/AI assets) that scale across stakeholders. The position requires close collaboration with commercial teams and the wider data/tech community, strong engineering discipline, and the ability to explain technical choices and model outcomes in clear business terms.

•  Partner with commercial teams to translate business questions into analytical use cases, data requirements, and measurable success criteria.

•  Design, build, and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines and data models across layers (raw/bronze, curated/silver, semantic/gold), integrating internal and external sources into curated, analytics-ready data products with consistent definitions, documentation, and strong data quality controls.

•  Develop advanced analytics and data science solutions (segmentation, propensity/next-best-action, forecasting, and causal/experiment analysis) and support deployment into business processes.

•  Enable self-service insights by building and maintaining semantic models, performant Power BI datasets, and user-friendly Power BI reports/dashboards (visualisations), with a strong focus on usability and governance.

•  Collaborate with IT, data platform teams, and external vendors to optimize architecture, ensure compliance and privacy-by-design, and continuously improve data availability and reliability.

•  Own GenAI/LLM and agentic AI solutions in production (e.g., insight copilots, automated briefing generation, semantic search over market research): solution design, build, deployment, adoption, monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement with human-in-the-loop controls and responsible AI guardrails.
•
Turn analytics and models into reliable, repeatable solutions by using production-quality code (Git, testing), automated runs, and monitoring; apply MLOps practices when machine learning is used.

Your new department

The Customer & Market Insights team sits within the Customer Engagement department, which in addition accounts for Commercial Excellence and Data, Digital & IT colleagues. The department enables the NL organisation to execute and optimise customer engagements through integrated data IT ecosystem, customer insights and digital channel management in the go-to-market model.

Your skills & qualifications

The ideal candidate is proactive, takes ownership, and thrives in a dynamic, continuously evolving environment. They combine strong data engineering discipline with data science curiosity: building reliable pipelines and models, ensuring data quality and governance, and turning complex datasets into solutions that can be understood and used by commercial stakeholders. They build trusted relationships across business, IT, and external partners, and consistently focus on quality, security, and timely delivery.

•  Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Econometrics, or a related field; 3+ years in data science and/or data engineering roles.

•  Experience with BI and data visualization (Power BI); ability to communicate insights and technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

•  Strong programming and analytics skills: Python and SQL (mandatory); experience with notebooks and software engineering practices (Git, CI/CD, testing).

•  Proven experience building ELT/ETL pipelines and layered data models (raw/bronze, curated/silver, semantic/gold), integrating multiple sources into analytics-ready datasets with strong data quality controls/monitoring and documentation.

•  Hands-on experience with modern data platforms and warehouses (e.g., MS Fabric, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks) and orchestration tools.

•  Applied data science skills (segmentation, forecasting, propensity modelling, experimentation/causal inference); experience operationalizing models is a plus (MLOps).

•  Hands-on familiarity with GenAI/LLM and agentic AI delivery in production, including privacy, security, and responsible AI guardrails.

•  Fluent in English, both written and verbal; pharmaceutical industry experience is an advantage; commitment to responsible and compliant use of data and AI.
