Our client is seeking an up and coming Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the growing commercial team. Working for a leading Main Contractor, you will support the Senior Commercial team in delivering high-value construction projects across the North East. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional looking to transition from a junior role or a recent graduate with placement experience to take the next step in their career.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Subcontractor Management: Assisting with the procurement of subcontractors, including the preparation of tender packages and analysing returns.

Cost Control: Supporting the monitoring of project costs against budget and assisting in the preparation of monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).

Valuations and Payments: Measuring works on-site and assisting with the preparation of interim valuations and subcontractor payment notices.
*

Variations: Identifying, pricing, and recording variations to the contract in a timely manner.
*

Site Records: Maintaining accurate records of site activities, resources, and progress to support commercial claims and reporting.
*

Final Accounts: Assisting the Quantity Surveyor in the agreement of subcontractor final accounts and the preparation of the main contract final account.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education: A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related RICS-accreditation is ideal.

Experience: Previous experience working for a Main Contractor or Subcontractor, ideally within the North East construction market.
*

Skills: Strong numerical skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and an understanding of standard forms of contract (specifically NEC4 or JCT).

Attributes: A proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills for liaising with site teams and clients, and a valid UK driving license for site visits.
