Would you like to work in a dynamic Research environment—where your work can help improve patients’ lives by impacting how we use data science in drug discovery? If so, you might be the Associate Director we are looking for.
Your new role
As Associate Director, you will lead an engaged team and define and deliver the data & ML engineering strategy that embeds peptide, protein, small molecule, antibody, and external molecular data into AI and digital R&D initiatives. You will align senior stakeholders around a joint AI engineering plan, simplify the use of platforms and practices, and accelerate key Research Projects.
Your key responsibilities will include:

-Lead of the Molecular Data & AI engineering team, driving the technical quality and reproducibility of prediction models, collaborating closely with very skilled colleagues with expertise in ML Research and Data Science
-Shaping a team consisting of ML Engineers, Data Engineers and MLOps SW engineers operating very closely to the scientific community
-Collaboration with senior stakeholders and translating scientific needs into engineering projects
-Responsible for vendor management, ensuring consultant and vendor deliverables meet expectations
-Participate in the Data & AI Engineering leadership team, contribute to vision and strategy, and evangelise successful approaches internally and externally (including with universities and external partners)
Your new department
The Molecular Data & AI Engineering team is part of Novo Nordisk’s AI and Digital Innovation (ADI) area where we create technical solutions together with ML Scientists working on structure-based drug design.
You will join the department Data & AI Engineering and lead a team consisting of five dedicated colleagues plus five consultants. The team’s focus is on accelerating lead optimisation, working with data related to proteins, peptides, small molecules, antibodies, and with ensuring quality and traceability of machine learning predictions in this space.
Your skills & qualifications
We are seeking candidates who fulfil the following prerequisites:

-You hold a master’s degree in IT management, Bioinformatics, Computer science management or similar
-You have experience driving proven impact in data science or machine learning environment, in an industry enterprise setting
-You have experience in delivering engineering products that accelerate business timelines – especially a very dynamic and highly innovative environment
-You have a strong grasp of cloud technologies and of open-source technologies for ML development, ML operations, Scientific Data Management, Analytics
-You have strong stakeholder management skills and people management skills
-Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry is an advantage, but candidates with relevant academic backgrounds are also considered
-You are fluent in English

You excel at prioritising work in a dynamic environment, communicate clearly with senior stakeholders, and build alignment across diverse teams.
