Part-Time Youth Leader

Reports to: Senior Pastor 

Hours: 20-25 hours per week (flexible based on church needs) 

Location: Nyon, Switzerland

Position Summary

Westlake Church Nyon is an English-speaking, international church in the Geneva region, with a diverse congregation united in pursuing Jesus. Our youth ministry includes students from local and international schools, forming a fun and culturally – varied community. We currently run weekly gatherings for younger and older youth, separately, as well as a Sunday evening discussion during the sermon portion of the church service. We are looking for a youth leader who will help students grow in their relationship with Christ and equip them to live out their faith with confidence and joy.

The Part-Time Youth Leader will serve as a spiritual leader and mentor to the youth of Westlake Church, helping them grow in their relationship with Christ and engage meaningfully in the life of the church. This role includes planning and leading youth programs, discipling students, and supporting the broader pastoral team in ministry efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Youth Ministry Leadership

• Develop and lead weekly youth gatherings
• Plan and oversee youth events, retreats, and service projects
• Teach Biblically-grounded lessons that are relevant and engaging
• Build relationships with students through mentoring and discipleship
• Recruit, train, and support youth ministry volunteers

Pastoral Support

• Provide pastoral care to youth and their families
• Support church-wide initiatives and outreach efforts
• Participate in staff meetings and collaborate with ministry leaders
• Assist in preaching, teaching, or leading worship as needed

Administration & Communication

• Maintain clear and appropriate communication with parents and volunteers
• Manage youth ministry budget and submit reports as needed
• Ensure Westlake Church safeguarding policies are followed during youth activities

Qualifications

• A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Passion for youth and a heart for discipleship
• Cross-cultural experience and the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds
• Experience in youth ministry or pastoral leadership (paid or volunteer)
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Theological training preferred (Bible college or seminary, or equivalent experience)
• Ability to work collaboratively with church staff and volunteers
