The Hyperscaler Engineering team plays a critical role in SAP’s global cloud infrastructure, ensuring secure, reliable connectivity across SAP data centers and public cloud providers.

As a Network Security Engineer, you will focus on enterprise networking and firewall services in a large-scale, mission-critical hyperscaler environment where availability and security are essential for SAP’s global operations.

This role has a strong networking and firewall focus. While you will work in a public cloud and hyperscaler environment, deep networking expertise is the primary requirement. Cloud-specific skills can be developed on the job.

What you’ll do

-Operate and maintain enterprise network and firewall services in a global hyperscaler environment

-Handle incidents, service requests and troubleshooting related to network connectivity and security

(ticket-based, operational role with high business impact)

-Ensure 24/7 connectivity between SAP data centers, hyperscalers and customer environments in a follow-the-sun operating model

-Analyze network issues, identify root causes and implement corrective actions

-Work closely with internal SAP teams (infrastructure, platform, application, security) to deliver stable and secure services

-Participate in architectural discussions and continuous service improvement initiatives

-Contribute to process improvements, documentation and operational best practices

-Collaborate with sister teams responsible for automation and development activities

What you bring

-Strong networking background with hands-on experience in enterprise environments

-Advanced networking knowledge, including routing, switching and network troubleshooting

-Enterprise firewall experience (configuration, operation, troubleshooting)

-Solid understanding of TCP/IP and network traffic flows

-Experience working with firewalls (e.g. Palo Alto, Cisco, Fortinet or similar)

-Ability to work in an operational, ticket-driven environment

-Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with global teams

-Fluent English (written and spoken)

Nice to have 

-Exposure to public cloud networking (AWS, Azure and/or GCP)

-Experience with:

-VPNs, VPCs, private and hybrid connectivity

-Load balancing technologies

-Basic scripting or automation skills

(Python, Bash, Shell or similar)

-Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code or cloud tooling

(e.g. Terraform, Git, Jenkins, Kubernetes)

-Experience working in a 24×7 follow-the-sun operational model

-Interest in developing expertise in hyperscaler-scale cloud environments
