WE ARE
A dynamic unit within DG AGRI responsible for “Strategic programming, internal control and inter- institutional relations”.
The unit ensures the implementation of the Commission’s Strategic Planning and Programming (SPP) cycle in DG AGRI and promotes the performance culture in the DG. We are also responsible for the internal control and risk management systems in DG AGRI and we coordinate the relations with the Internal Audit Service (IAS). As the unit responsible for interinstitutional relations, we coordinate the DG relation with the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee, the Committee of the Regions as well as national and regional parliaments. Finaly, we ensure efficient coordination, quality and coherence of the briefings delivered to the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food and to other Members of the College, as well as to the Director-General of DG AGRI and chef de cabinet of the Commissioner. The Unit works closely with DG AGRI management and units as well as with many Commission services.
WE PROPOSE
This is a new key position in DG AGRI and as briefing coordinator the successful candidate, within a small team, will:
- Develop and ensure an efficient coordination of the briefings requested for the Commissioner, the Chef de Cabinet, other Members of the College or the Director-General.
- They will provide assistance and guidance to colleagues on the form, length, tone and substance of briefings, and ensure consolidation of briefings when needed. They will guarantee quality and consistency of briefings and provide necessary feedback to the colleagues drafting the briefings, ensuring that reactions and views of the DG and cabinet are considered.
- The briefing coordinator will develop and maintain a repository of briefing materials to improve efficiency.
Together with the local BASIS administrator, the briefing coordinator will support BASIS users and interacting with BASIS lead DGs.
WE LOOK FOR
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong sense of responsibility and capacity to work under pressure (workload and tight deadlines). They will have excellent drafting skills and experience in conveying political messages; good political judgment and discernment are key qualities. The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of agricultural policy, including trade aspects and/or experience in areas relevant for agriculture, such as environment and climate policy, as well as veterinary and plant health matters.
Coordination experience and a proven capacity to prioritise and organise work are essential since the successful candidate will have to oversee assignments and follow up of a high number of DG briefings. Team spirit and a capacity to communicate with colleagues to provide both guidance and feedback are key attributes of the profile.
Very good command of English is essential, and a good knowledge of French and German are also needed.
