WE ARE
The Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) is responsible for developing and implementing European policies in the transport field. Within DG MOVE, Directorate C covers “Land transport”, embracing road, road safety and rail matters.
Unit C2 is responsible for road safety policy. The core tasks of the unit are:
- Policy development, in particular working towards Vision Zero (zero fatalities on European roads by 2050);
- The development of legislative and non-legislative measures on the basis of the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy as well as the road safety policy framework 2021-2030, such as driving licences, crossborder enforcement, roadworthiness testing, road infrastructure safety management and transport of dangerous goods.;
- The monitoring of the application of EU road safety legislation by Member States; and
- The promotion of best practices and awareness-raising activities.
The EU objective to halve the number of fatalities and serious injuries by 2030 and move close to zero fatalities by 2050 requires urgent action and ambitious measures. This is a particularly interesting and challenging time to join the unit.

WE PROPOSE
We propose a post as Secretary to a team of Policy Officers, which provides an interesting career opportunity for a motivated colleague to take up a variety of secretarial tasks in the heart of a dynamic team who work in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere.
The chosen candidate would be given a broad range of secretarial and administrative responsibilities. The main tasks would include the preparation of files, organisation of missions and meetings (and subsequent reimbursement requests), translation requests, the registration and follow-up of incoming/outgoing mail, ensuring deadlines are met, filtering telephone calls and helping to deal with legislative procedures and launching Inter-Service consultations. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Head of Unit’s secretary, providing back-up in her absence.
DG MOVE is keen to provide secretaries with good opportunities for continuous learning, enabling new colleagues to acquire the necessary skills to work autonomously, to develop initiatives and to manage their own priorities.
WE LOOK FOR
A well organised, strongly motivated and experienced secretary with a good sense of team spirit. The ideal candidate should be capable of multi-tasking and have strong co-ordination and organisational skills as well as a willingness to use his/her initiative. He/she must have the ability to work as part of a team. Very good computer skills and knowledge of Commission procedures/willingness to undertake necessary training would be an advantage for this post. The person selected for the post should have the ability to communicate clearly. A good knowledge of two EU official languages, one of which should be English, French or German, is required. For this particular post, a good knowledge of English and some French would be an asset.
