Who we’re looking for / The team

Schroders is seeking a controller to oversee a portfolio of several hotels (mainly 4 and 5 stars) both in France and across Europe. The successful candidate will be in charge of monthly reportings, reforecasts, budgets on her/his portfolio, but also of less usual assignments like cash forecasts, benchmarks or hotels valuations.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop its controlling and finance skills in a very motivating environment composed of amazing hotels. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams as finance business partner, ensuring that your outputs meet the deadlines and expected quality.

What you’ll do

As Hotels Deputy Controller, you will oversee a portfolio of several hotels, mainly 4 and 5 stars in Europe. You will notably perform the following tasks:

  • Prepare monthly reporting for the hotels in your portfolio.
  • Pay particular attention to cash flow monitoring and cash projections.
  • Play a key role in the annual budgeting process for each hotel, as well as the reforecasts during the year.
  • Carry out ad hoc studies (e.g. benchmarks, improving accommodation margin, investigating excessive food costs, etc.).
  • Interact with Financial Managers of the hotels, the Asset Management and Real Estate Schroders teams, as well as auditors and external accountants.
  • Support the Investment team during the acquisitions & disposals process (final price calculations, data rooms, etc…) and on valuations.
  • Bank relations (support in refinancing, banking covenants, specific reporting).
  • Investors relations (ad hoc meetings preparations and presentations).
  • Be the key contact and coordinator regarding the hotels’ insurances.
  • Participate in legal and administrative follow-up, including some supplier payments.

You will be part of the controlling team (8 persons), report to a Controller Manager and be based in Paris (8th), with a few travels to your hotels per year. Half of the assets are based in France and the remainder located in Italy, Poland, Belgium, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Scotland, and England.

The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help

  • Business School and/or Hotel School Degree (‘Bac + 5’)
  • At least one year significant experience in controlling
  • Knowledge in corporate finance, accounting & legal
  • Experience in hospitality is a plus, strong interest for hospitality is a must
  • Native French and fluent English
