Offer DescriptionDESCRIPTION OF FUTURE RESEARCH WORK:The realisation of individual research concepts (on Byzantium as well as the Middle Ages in general) in the Department of Source Research and Editing. Presentation of at least two lectures per year at the Department. Preparation of grant projects. Participation in initiatives carried out by the Institute. Opportunity to participate in scientific conferences, lectures etc. Providing library and archive queries. Fulfilment of individual requirements according to Polish Higher Education regulations, especially evaluations.TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT: contract for 21 months.COMPETITION PROCEDURE: * The competition consists of two stages:
- First stage: Analysis of submitted applications to check their compliance with formal requirements and alignment with substantive criteria.
- Second stage: Interview.
- During the first stage, the committee may request the candidate to address any formal deficiencies or provide additional written explanations within a specified timeframe under penalty of rejection.
- All communication with candidates will be conducted via email. Correspondence will be managed by a committee member or an employee of the IH PAN Secretariat.
- After completing the first stage, the committee will establish a list of candidates qualified for the second stage. Qualified candidates will be notified of the time, location, and format (in-person at the Institute’s headquarters or via electronic means) of the interview, as well as the composition of the committee. Candidates whose applications are rejected during the first stage will be informed of the reasons for rejection.
EVALUATION CRITERIA FOR CANDIDATES: For Assistant Professor (Adiunkt) positions:Candidates are evaluated on a 0-100 scale, considering the following criteria: * Scientific achievements (publications, conference participation, grants, scholarships, research projects, internships) – up to 50 points;
- Organizational experience (organizing conferences and other academic events) – up to 10 points;
- Previous participation in the Institute’s research projects – up to 20 points;
- Alignment of qualifications and research plans with the Institute’s scientific profile and current development directions – up to 20 points.
Each committee member assigns partial scores for each criterion, which are then averaged to calculate the candidate’s final score.DESCRIPTION OF CAREER DEVELOPMENT PERSPECTIVES:We offer:

The applicant should have experience of archival queries in country and abroad and should speak Polish and English fluently. The applicant should present a research project compatible with the research profile of the Department of Source Study and Editing of IH PAS.
