ICREA Research Professor , established at Departament d’Humanitats, (Barcelona, Spain), is interested in receiving Expressions of Interest of potential candidates for the Marie Sklodowska Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA PF) 2025 call.Prof. Montón Subías is one of the few established professors teaching and researching historical archaeology in continental Europe and in Spain. Her current fields of research are the archaeology of modern Iberian colonialism, the impact of Jesuit missions on CHamoru communities of the Mariana islands and the First Globalization. Moreover, being committed to a feminist archaeology, throughout her career she has investigated topics of gender and identity, with her current research focusing on the effects of Spanish colonialism on gender systems, women’s maintenance activities, and processes of identity on the island of Guam.Prof. Sandra Montón-Subías is currently PI in the ERC AdG MaGMa-Material Culture, Gender and Maintenance Activities in Making and Resisting Early Modern Colonial Globalization. A Long-term Perspective from the Mariana Islands and the project -Archaeology of Iberian Cultural Contact and Colonialism in Guam and the Mariana Islands. She also coordinates the UPF’s research group CGyM ( ) and the SGR GRASEG-Research group on social Archaeology and Gender Studies. Since 2015, she has co-directed archaeological excavations conducted at different locations in the island of Guam, Mariana Islands (Western Pacific).Prof. Montón Subías is interested in sponsoring up to 2 postdoctoral students working in any subject related to the Archaeology of Colonialism, and the Archaeology of Gender.Job Description: The Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA PF) scheme is a prestigious European funding programme thatsupports mobility, career development, and training within and beyond Europe. The scheme offers highly competitive salary and research costs. MSCA IF involves a joint application between the researcher and the Pompeu Fabra University. The fellowship is for a postdoctoral researcher moving to Barcelona from another country.All expressions of interest must meet the eligibility criteria of the scheme: applicants must have a Ph.D. by September 10, 2025. Applicants from any country may apply, but must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the submission deadline.Fellows will have desk space at the UPF main campus (Ciutadella), and access to meeting and lecture rooms, and computers with all the necessary software for the required research. They will also have complete access to UPF’s excellent library and interlibrary loan system, to IT services, language training and cultural/sports services.Support program: In addition to receiving multiple feedback from your supervisor, if chosen to submit the proposal to the European Commission, you will also receive advice from a dedicated research advisor at UPF’s Research Service and from the Knowledge Manager at the Humanities department, who will provide you feedback.
