At Engineering & Property Services (E&PS) we take care of all J&J buildings in Belgium providing services from Real Estate, Engineering & Strategic Project Delivery to Facilities Management. The Sr Project Manager is accountable for the performance of assigned projects on the Beerse site, leading projects thru our standard Project management standards FPX (Flawless Project Execution) and IDEA (ideation, definition, execution and assessment phases). The major activities of the project manager are: driving innovation to ensure safety and appropriate quality, translate the need of our internal clients in a technical solution, using learning adoption internally and externally, coordinate and align a team of internal and external project members, ensure that our standards and agency regulations like FDA are followed. The Sr Project Manager will lead the E&PS Beerse Project Delivery team composed of 6 Project Leads and will report into the E&PS Director Project Management for Belgium.
The best candidate for this role has experience in leading a team, and has experience in end to end execution of capital projects with a continuous focus on Construction Safety. They have good communication skills and knowledge of process engineering, HVAC and E&I. Knowledge of the pharma or medical devices is preferable. You are eager to learn continuously and like to work with many colleagues and partners across other functional areas who are involved in your projects. Making good relationships and align team members is something that gives you energy.
Key responsibilities

Lead the Beerse Project Management Team in executing Projects (ranging from 1M€ to 50M€) from concept to post implementation stage in accordance with our standard IDEA process.

Drive the team towards a Construction Safety culture, acting as Construction Safety Champion, partnering with EHS ensuring that standards are implemented and portfolio safety metrics are met.

Lead portfolio performance ensuring that cost, schedule, and cash-flow targets are met.

Take charge in aligning with business partners to identify business needs, devise appropriate business solutions and prioritize projects. Serve as the key contact for urgent matters and critical issues.

Guide the team in translating project definition to a design ensuring that elements of environment, health, safety, quality and life cycle are covered while maintaining the focus on constructability & construction safety.

Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, statutory and regulatory requirements and customer specifications.

Lead portfolio planning and manage project’s resources, using internal and external partners capabilities to adequately and timely resource each project.

Define the communication plan and advise Business Management, sponsor, user and other partners on a regular basis by creating, maintaining and presenting reports on project status (scope, budget, planning, risks and mitigations and overall performance against baseline targets)
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent through experience

Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent

Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
Preferred

Master’s Degree in Engineering

Familiarity with J&J PM approaches (FPX & IDEA Project Delivery Process)
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Required:

Minimum of 10 years of Project Management experience.

Minimum of 2 yrs people leading experience.

Prior experience with capital projects in the industry

Ability to lead and empower remote and virtual teams and partners

Understands business needs and can translate these to engineering concepts

Process-oriented, process knowledgeable

Good listening and problem-solving skills when handling potential conflicts within regions when implementing global standards and guidelines. Understanding sophisticated technical/regulatory issues impacting products.

Ability to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships at all levels within the organization, internally (FM/MAM/RE) and with Business partners (Finance/ E&D/ Operations)

Knowledge of Project Controls in cost and schedule development, financial assessments and managing of budget and schedule

Manufacturing experience in FDA or other regulated environments from design through startup is an advantage.

Experience on contracting and negotiation

Location: Beerse (Belgium)
Travel Requirements: This position will require up to 10% domestic travel.
