Job Overview:

The Donor Engagement intern is part of the Donor Engagement Europe Team, which is responsible for relationship management of IRC’s key institutional donors. Under the line management of the Senior Advisor following those donors, the Donor engagement intern supports IRC’s funding focused engagement mainly with DG INTPA, DG MENA, DG ECHO, AFD and CDCS, collaborating closely with other teams which lead on policy, advocacy and technical engagement. The Donor Engagement intern supports the development and implementation of strategies for maintaining and developing proactive and positive relationships with those donors, in support of the delivery of IRC organisational strategy, Strategy 100.

Major Responsibilities:

Related to DG INTPA, DG MENA, FPI, AFD and CDCS:

  • Undertake research and preparation of background analyses.

  • Support in the preparation of briefings for discussions with institutional donors

  • Support in the implementation of donor strategies, through preparation, participation and follow-up of meetings and working groups.

  • Participate in relevant donor meetings, together with the Senior Advisors, and take minutes.

  • Collate and prepare project / program related information e.g. through fact sheets, website articles, and social media contributions.

  • Support the updating of internal database (Customer relationship management) and documents such as donor profiles.

    Related to DG ECHO and the European Humanitarian Forum:

  • Together with the Donor Engagement Officer, DG ECHO, support IRC’s engagement in the European Humanitarian Forum 2025 through coordination of internal meetings, communication and logistics, drafting of briefings and information notes

  • When IRC colleagues visit Brussels, support in the preparation of briefings for discussions with institutional donors, and participate in relevant donor meetings.

    Related to the Donor Engagement Europe Team:

  • Support the team in the preparation of internal donor tools (intranet…)

  • Support in the coordination of visits of IRC staff to donor capitals, including logistics, briefings, appointment coordination, etc.

Work experience:

Experience:

· You are interested in working in an international NGO and have knowledge and/high interest of the humanitarian and/or development working sectors.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • You are familiar with development cooperation and humanitarian aid

  • You have strong communication and organizational skills.

  • You work independently, accurately, with an eye for detail and enjoy working in a team (also working with virtual teams)

  • You feel confident in using MS Office (especially Word, Excel (eg Pivot Table), Outlook, Teams)

  • You work proactively and conscientiously.

  • Any knowledge of any of the following donors would be considered an asset: DG INTPA, DG MENA, DG ECHO, AFD and/or CDCS.

    Language Skills: Proficient in English and French (ability to understand, summarise and translate (from French to English) donor documents, ability to join external meetings/discussions in both languages.

Working Environment:

  • Standard office working environment.

  • Remote working can take place a small part of the time.
