Looking for MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships candidates – Geo-Ethnoarchaeology of Pastoralism

Company:

Job description

(Barcelona, Spain), is interested in receiving Expressions of Interest of potential candidates for the Marie Sklodowska Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) 2025 call working in the following domains: Geo-Ethnoarchaeology, Ethnoarchaeology, Pastoralism, Nomadic Societies, Cross-Cultural Studies.Prof. Biagetti is an ICREA Research Professor at UPF and senior member of the . He currently leads the European Research Council (ERC)-funded project (Reconstructing the Archaeology of Mobile Pastoralism: Bringing the Site Level into Long-Term Pastoral Narratives). In this role, he is pioneering innovative methodologies for studying pastoral archaeological sites.
Biagetti completed his graduate and postgraduate studies in Rome and earned his Ph.D. in African Archaeology from University College London (UCL) in 2012. Since then, he has pursued a transdisciplinary career, integrating archaeology, anthropology, and environmental science. His research focuses on the archaeology and ethnoarchaeology of drylands, and focuses on pastoral societies, employing novel approaches that bridge high-level theoretical questions with archaeological data.
Throughout his career, Biagetti has designed projects that challenge the traditional paradigm equating aridity with abandonment-a notion that has influenced many interpretations of past cultural trajectories. The archaeology of drylands has historically focused on major settlements near permanent or semi-permanent water sources, such as oases or river systems. However, the “outside world,” often populated by nomads and perceived as peripheral to sedentary centers, has been a locus of significant development and innovative land-use practices. The Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA PD) scheme is a prestigious European funding programme that supports mobility (you will have to live in Barcelona), career development, and training within and beyond Europe. The scheme offers highly competitive salary and research costs.
