What is the Role:
As a Treasury Credit Professional, Level 3, in the Bank & Country Credit (“B&CC”) team within Treasury, the role involves;
-Working in a team with responsibility for the credit management of a specified geographic portfolio of bank and country counterparties supporting the operations of Treasury and other AIB business areas.
-Researching and preparing credit applications to cover all related limit requests, and presentation to the relevant credit committee forum. The role also requires the ongoing monitoring of the credit quality of the counterparties within the portfolio.
-Working with stakeholders on ad hoc projects and management reporting and interacting with numerous stakeholders within AIB.
Key Accountabilities;
-Working in a team responsible for the credit management of a portfolio of banks, countries, and potentially ABS. This involves researching and preparing detailed credit applications to support and recommend the limits sought by Treasury and other AIB Business Areas and presentation of same to the relevant credit committee. The role may also involve reviewing draft credit applications prepared by more junior team members.
-Ensuring maintenance of lending standards and compliance with all relevant polices; Interbank and Country Exposure Policies, ABS and Large Exposure Policies as applicable.
-Bank credit analysis will include financial analysis on banks’ trading performance, asset quality, liquidity and funding profile, systemic importance to the relevant Country’s banking system etc.
-Understanding Treasury business types and requirements for limits e.g. Bond limits for the Fixed Income Investment desk, Repo limits for the Liquidity desk, Derivative limits for the FX desk, Trade Finance limits etc.
-Country credit analysis will include assessment of debt levels, current account surplus/ deficits, general government surplus/ deficit, GDP growth, economic policy and assessment of key economic indicators, analysis of banking system, political risk etc.
-Setting up the suite of limits approved at credit committee on AIB’s systems to enable Treasury desks to transact their business. Ensuring that system limits are accurate.
-Continuous monitoring of portfolio using desk research, discussions with external rating agencies, meeting with other banks’ credit teams and tracking external ratings movements. Input into to early identification of potential “watch cases” and escalation to senior management for recommendation of appropriate action.
-Actively manage operations to improve efficiency, increase effectiveness and control key risks.
What You Will Bring ;
-Minimum 3 years experience in credit risk management in a Treasury or similar financial services environment;
-Proven ability to manage internal and external stakeholder relationships. Ability to build effective relationships without compromising independence;
-Understanding of key risks associated with the banking industry and sovereign economic and political environments across the Eurozone and globally;
Professionally qualified candidates or candidates working towards gaining professional qualifications (e.g. ACA / ACCA / CFA) is desirable but not essential for the role.
