Offer DescriptionJob Title: Postdoc in time-resolved methods of structural characterization of solids:
x-ray diffraction and optical microscopy
Job Summary:
The European Free Electron X-ray Laser (EuXFEL) is among the world’s largest ongoing
scientific endeavors. Its cutting-edge research capabilities attract leading researchers from
across the world, enabling the pursuit of ambitious scientific challenges. We announce a
Postdoctoral position as part of a Ministry-funded project aimed at development of the
Polish XFEL scientific community to fully leverage the new research opportunities offered
by the EuXFEL [1]. A state-of-the-art laboratory has been established at the Institute of
Physics PAS, focusing on the rapid structural transformation of condensed matter under
extreme conditions of high temperature and pressure [2]. We are seeking a highly
motivated young scientist with a passion for experimental sciences, experienced in fs lasers
and/or X-ray techniques. The successful candidate will:
– build and operate an experimental set-up for time-resolved optical microscopy and
interferometry;
– conduct research on ultrafast structural changes in matter using the developed instrument
and XFEL sources;
– initiate and foster collaboration with new users of these advanced infrastructures.
If you are enthusiastic about pushing the boundaries of scientific research and contributing
to a dynamic and innovative team, we encourage you to apply.
