Description Overview
This position reports directly to the General Counsel and is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the strategic development and expansion of various business categories, as well as driving innovation and business growth on a global scale. The position is responsible for supporting the Chief Brand Officer, the Chief Scientific Officer and their reports in the delivery of category and brand development, new product innovation and the management of the existing portfolio of brands. The role works closely with the regional legal teams to ensure integrated legal advice across the function.
The candidate selected to fill this role will be based at our Dublin, Ireland headquarters.
Scope of the Role
Key responsibilities will include:
Global Categories:
-Category Strategy, Portfolio Management and Market Segmentation: Establishing and managing global legal support for the newly created global Category structure. In particular this role will advise on:
-path to market and regulatory advice relating to new and existing products.
-label development and product claims
-product and promotional claims and substantiation
-competitor and third-party challenge strategies and product defense plans
-issues relating to product channel
-issues relating to the marketing and promotion of products across diverse existing and emerging media
-the use of data and other information for the purposes of developing and marketing products.
-Coordinating the IP protection plans for emerging and existing products
-Coordinating the IP defense and offense plans for marketed products.
-Promotion, pricing and commercial practices
-Category strategies and development of proprietary tools, data and insights and the protection thereof
Business Development:
-Partnerships & Alliances: Supporting the identification, negotiating, and managing strategic partnerships, alliances, and collaborations that enhance the company’s position in the market.
-Providing legal support to the business leaders directing efforts to enter new geographic markets or expand the company’s presence in existing markets
Innovation:
-Product/Service Innovation: Providing legal advice on initiatives to develop and introduce innovative products, services, or solutions to meet emerging customer demands and differentiate the company from competitor
-Issue guidance on RX-to-OTC switches, supporting both the EVP Chief Brand & Digital Officer and Chief Scientific Officer
-Providing legal advice in relation to product issues including:
-Ingredient efficacy and safety
-Product release and product testing
-Product quality incidents
-Product safety and pharmacovigilance
Experience Required
-Typically these skills are obtained with a minimum of 10+ years’ experience as a legal advisor to a global business in an in-house corporate legal department
-Industry knowledge: deep experience in the manufacture and sale of regulated healthcare product
-Demonstrated experience in managing a complex multi-functional matrix tasked with the delivery and promotion of products to an international business.
-Analytical and research abilities: excellent analytical skills to analyze proposed legislation, regulations, and policy initiatives.
