This team plays a leading role in providing the company with strategic legal advice on all business aspects. Additionally, the team drives the implementation of compliance measures within daily CAC business activities and establishes a local compliance framework to ensure business continuity and adherence to applicable legal regulations.This senior role within the team represents the Legal Department on various legal issues, including privacy, data protection, and information security. The Senior Legal Officer plays an essential role in implementing related strategies and processes within the organization.Key tasks include acting as a compliance specialist (e.g., antitrust, sanction compliance, social compliance, AML, and CTF) and providing input on related requirements for global business initiatives, projects, and programs. The Senior Legal Officer will manage a wide range of stakeholders within the MBCAC, the Mercedes-Benz organization, and involved third parties.Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted legal and compliance advisor to the company.
- Act as the first point of contact for local management to ensure integrity within the company.
- Create general compliance awareness.
- Provide strategic legal advice and support to the company on a broad range of issues, including regulatory matters and commercial contracts.
- Advise the company on compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including anti-corruption, export controls, data privacy, and competition law.
- Identify and assess potential legal and regulatory risks facing the company, developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Work with other senior professionals, such as the Information Security Architect and Information Security Officer, to develop company policies and procedures that ensure legal compliance across all departments.
- Provide guidance and leadership to junior staff members.
- Handle special projects as needed.
- Act as the replacement for the Head of Legal during his/her absence.
Requirements
- European degree in law, LLM or higher (Doctor or Postdoc); knowledge of Dutch law is an advantage.
- Specialization in a particular area of law, such as Privacy Law, Anti-Corruption Law, or Corporate Law, is an advantage.
- High level of relevant legal experience, with at least 5 years in a corporate legal department.
- Extensive experience with the interpretation, creation, and application of relevant policies, standards, and legislation.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced corporate environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Boardroom presence; ability to discuss complex topics with senior management and present them to the executive board.
- Professional proficiency in English; knowledge of any additional European language is an advantage.
