The project goal is to develop and validate new SoHO bioinks capable of being applied to a new procedure for the production of patient-specific osteochondral-like bioprinted grafts enriched with multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC). This would dramatically improve surgical approach by reducing the need for harvesting costal cartilage autografts, or cartilage allografts from human cadaveric donors, solving the risks and the problems related with the donor-receptor graft matching and reducing time of surgery, patient length of stay in post-surgical admission and clinical outcomes (patient recovery).The position:To support our mission, we are seeking a PhD student with expertise in biomaterials, tissue engineering, or related fields. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the development of bioprinted advanced therapies. Specifically, the candidate will undertake their doctoral thesis by developing a suite of bioinks based on diverse extracellular matrix components, aimed at biofabricating cellular scaffolds designed for the regeneration of articular cartilage.Conditions:

• Full-time (38,5 h/week)

• Incorporation immediately

• Length of the contract: 9/1/2025 – 30/11/2027

• Gross salary 25.424 euros /year

• Fringe benefits (lunch allowance, public transport reduction, extra on-leave days in Christmas and Eastern)

Experience and knowledgeRequired

• Master’s degree in bioengineering, biomedical science, biotechnology (health) or related field.

• Good knowledge of lab techniques, specifically in cell culture techniques.

• Good knowledge of material science, specifically polymers, biomaterials, biological materials, rheology …etc.

• Good level of English (Advance or Proficiency).

Desired

• Knowledge of bio-fabrication techniques, bioprinting and related.

• Publications, specially in this field.

• Research experience in the mentioned fields.
