Reporting directly to the CIO, this role is pivotal in optimizing business processes and delivering user-centric solutions that drive operational efficiency and enhance the overall experience for students, faculty, and staff.The ideal candidate will have substantial professional experience in leading large-scale UX and BPR initiatives, demonstrating a proven ability to align process improvements with strategic goals. We are looking for a person to join a full-time position in Madrid. Responsibilities:Your role as Director of User Experience (UX) and Business Process Reengineering (BPR) will involve:Business Process Optimization

  • Spearhead efforts to analyze, redesign, and optimize university workflows to improve efficiency and align processes with strategic objectives.
  • Embed user-centric design principles into process reengineering initiatives to deliver seamless and impactful user experiences.

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute a comprehensive strategy that combines business process reengineering with user experience enhancements, ensuring alignment with IE University’s mission and long-term goals.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across technical, academic, and administrative units to identify inefficiencies, prioritize improvements, and foster collaboration.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of UX and BPR professionals, cultivating a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Ensure the team is equipped with the tools, methodologies, and resources necessary to deliver impactful results.

Measurement and Reporting

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of UX and process improvement initiatives.
  • Deliver data-driven insights and actionable recommendations to senior leadership to inform strategic decision-making.

Emerging Trends

  • Stay ahead of trends in user experience design, business process management, and digital transformation to incorporate cutting-edge solutions and best practices.

Qualifications:To thrive in this role, you should have:Professional Experience

  • Extensive experience leading large-scale UX programs across industries, demonstrating the ability to deliver user-focused solutions that drive tangible business results.
  • Proven track record in business process reengineering or management, with significant contributions to process optimization and operational improvement.
  • Expertise in managing cross-functional, complex projects involving diverse stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Prior experience working in IT or technical environments, providing a strong foundation for collaboration with technical teams and understanding of technology-driven processes.
  • Strong background in applying data-driven approaches to measure and optimize performance.
  • A history of navigating high-pressure, ambiguous environments and successfully driving organizational change.

EducationCandidates should possess a robust educational foundation that bridges design, technology, and business process management.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in one or more of the following areas:
  • User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or Graphic Design (with a UX/UI focus)
  • Psychology (e.g., Cognitive or Behavioral Psychology)
  • Business Administration, Operations Management, or Organizational Behavior
  • Computer Science, Information Systems, or Industrial Engineering
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field, such as:
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on strategy, operations, or organizational leadership
  • Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or User Experience Design
  • Master’s in Business Process Management, Change Management, or Digital Transformation
  • Master’s in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or Information Systems

Candidates with interdisciplinary academic backgrounds (e.g., an undergraduate degree in design or technology paired with an MBA) will be prioritized.Certifications (Highly Desirable)

  • Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher)
  • Lean Management
  • ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
  • Certifications in Design Thinking, Agile UX, or Business Process Reengineering

Language Skills

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is highly valued.
